Child Custody

In Arizona, child custody is divided into two main components: legal custody and physical custody.

  • Physical custody refers to where the child primarily lives and the parenting time schedule each parent follows.

  • Legal custody involves the right to make important decisions about the child’s upbringing, including matters related to education, healthcare, and religion.

When determining custody arrangements, Arizona courts consider a wide range of factors focused on the best interests of the child. These include the child’s relationship with each parent, the parents' ability to provide a stable environment, and any history of abuse or neglect.

Navigating custody matters can be emotionally and legally complex. I help my clients understand their rights, the factors courts will evaluate, and the strategies that best support their goals — always with the child’s well-being as the top priority.
